Attack the Day

Mornings are my favorite time of day, they are like a whole other day. I woke up this morning around 3 am in order to pee I immediately felt very antsy and couldn’t get back to sleep. This doesn’t happen that often, but it happens often enough not to be alarming. I am always psyched to wake up early; I don’t classify myself as a morning person, meaning that I don’t wake up with loads of energy. I drag my ass out of bed and I’m really not quite ready to meet the day until I’ve had my requisite liter of coffee. Also, I don’t have much interest in sleeping in, I think that is putting it lightly the only days I sleep in are rest days when my goal for the day is to sit still and literally do nothing. Even on those days I am still out of bed before 8 am. I just love to get a jump start on the day; I am always more motivated in the morning. Whether to go to the gym or on a trail run there is just such a pleasant feeling of anticipation for what the day might bring. I would guess that it’s because of alpine starts why I get a joyful excitement about being out of bed before the sun. Usually we’re going to do something hard and intimidating when we get our asses up so early. So, I am challenging everyone who reads this to get a jump on one of their days this week; whatever you’re psyched on wake up and journal, organize your garage, or go for a trail run before it gets ungodly hot. If you’re not a morning person, like Amy, just try to get up without yelling your partner.
